Key Tax & Bookkeeping Reminders to Start the Year Off Right

Happy New Year from our team at Big Beach Books! January is one of the most important months for staying compliant and getting your financial house in order. Below are the key deadlines and reminders to keep top of mind as we kick off 2026.

Plan 2026 Retirement Contributions Early

January is a great time to plan or adjust contributions for SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, Solo 401(k)s, and Traditional or Roth IRAs. (2025 IRA contributions can still be made until April 15, 2026.) Review Entity Structure & Elections

If you're considering an S-corporation election for 2026, the deadline is approaching quickly — March 15 for most businesses. January is also a good time to update business addresses, ownership changes, and state annual reports.
